Author Anne Bustard is Coming to KSH:
We are fortunate to have author, Ms. Anne Bustard, visit our campus on Tuesday, August 22, to speak about her book, Anywhere but Paradise. Born in Hawai’i and a beach girl at heart, she now resides in Austin, Texas. Want to learn more about this author? Checkout her website at annebustard.com.

CRBLC Movie of the Week:
Diary of a Wimpy Kid – “Greg Heffley is headed for big things, but first he has to survive the scariest, most humiliating experience of any kid’s life – middle school! That won’t be easy, considering he’s surrounded by hairy-freckled morons, wedgie-loving bullies, and a moldy slice of cheese with nuclear cooties!”

Middle school boys and girls Cross Country will begin August 28 to October 26.

Monday’s and Thursday’s from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. (No practice during October vacation.)

All students interested in playing volleyball please sign up during lunch this Friday, next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The first practice is scheduled for Monday, August 14th. In order to practice, ALL of the follow requirements must be completed:

Health History and Physical Exam forms (available from Health Services – health rooms)
Athletic Participation Agreement and Release form (found online at KS Connect)
Student Athlete and Parent Handbook Acknowledgement form (found online at KS Connect)
Baseline Concussion Test

Mural Painting with Aaron Kai ʻ07 – The project will team Aaron Kai with our Grade 5-12+ students (faculty are also welcome and invited) to paint a mural with Aaron – public location TBD. The selected date will be Friday, June 2, 2017 – all day; transportation provided by students or their parents. Students do not need to be artist but willing to have a fun experience with Aaron. If you are available and interested in participating, please see Mrs. Ah Chong – a waiver will need to be signed.

All students participating in high-risk sports must take a baseline concussion test.

Testing will be done at Kekuʻiapoiwa, Room 5 (high school learning center); look for signs for check-in. Testing will be done in small groups. Appointments are not necessary and students may check-in at any time during the times listed. The test is a non-invasive computer exam that takes approximately 30-40 minutes to complete.

The test dates and times are:
•Tuesday, June 13 (12:30-4:30pm)
•Tuesday, July 18 (2:30-5:15pm)
•Tuesday, July 25 (2:30-5:15pm)
•Monday, August 14 (3:00-5:30pm)

Students that should plan on taking a baseline test are:
•Any student interested in participating in a high-risk sport for KSH that has not previously done so
•Students entering 6^th, 7^th, 9^th, and 11th grades and interested in participating in a high risk sport, regardless if they have previously taken a baseline test
•Any student that has been diagnosed with a concussion since their last baseline test

The art exhibit is on this week and this week only – We have a few bowls still up for sale for the 6th graders Make a Change project. Come down to the Library and see the art, new mural and pick up a bowl for a good cause. Please see Mrs. Helm for information and purchases. Bowls are $3. Proceeds will be donated to a local charity.
