For the last month of school, all students needing to complete detention hours will be required to stay after school (Monday-Thursday) until their obligation has been fulfilled. Families will need to arrange for alternate transportation in the afternoon via parent pickup or by catching the schoolʻs activity bus.

CRBLC May Day Lei Contest
Bring one, homemade lei to CRBLC on the morning of Thursday, May 4th and earn 1000 ‘Apu Lanakila points for participating. Include a placard with a brief description explaining your unique creation. The categories are:
- Recycle / Upcycle Lei– remake used and reusable materials in an original way
- Edible Lei– items used are perishable and can be eaten
- Literary Lei– materials/design connected to a book or author
Awards will be given for:
- 1st& 2nd place winners in each category and age division (student & faculty/staff)
- Overall People’s Choice Award – voted on by students, staff, and families who visit CRBLC on 5/4 and 5/5
Winners will be announced at Panina after our May Day Program.
CRBLC BONUS ʻAPU LANAKILA POINTS
Starting in May, earn bonus points if your entire advisory is cleared of ALL library obligations: overdue book(s) and fine(s).
5/1-5/5 = 15,000 points
5/8-5/12 = 20,000 points
5/15-5/19 = 25,000 points

ATTENTION Student-Athletes!
To participate in high-risk sports next year, you need a baseline concussion test. Get it done in May!
Testing will be done at Kekuʻiapoiwa (high school learning center); a check-in table will be inside. Testing will be done in small groups. Appointments are not necessary and students may check-in at any time during the times listed. The test is a non-invasive computer exam that takes approximately 40 minutes to complete.
The test dates and times are:
•Monday, May 15 (3:00-5:30pm)
•Tuesday, May 16 (3:00-5:30pm)
•Wednesday, May 17 (3:00-5:30pm)
•Thursday, May 18 (3:00-5:30pm)
Students that should plan on taking a baseline test are:
•Any student interested in participating in a high-risk sport for KSH that has not previously done so
•Current 6th and 8th grade students planning on participating in a high risk sport, regardless if they have previously taken a baseline test
•Any student that has been diagnosed with a concussion since their last baseline test

Cheerleading – Tryouts for 2017-2018 – May 17-18 for current 8th graders going to high school and May 19 for current 6th & 7th graders for middle school – see Mrs. Ah Chong for sign-ups and information packets.
Girls Basketball – Practice will be on Monday, Thursday and Friday from 3:00-5:30 in Laʻamea
Boys Basketball – Practice on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:30-5:30 in Laʻamea.
~May Day on Friday, 5/5/17 in Laʻamea at 10:00 – wear aloha wear – no laptops for 6th & 7th grades, 8th graders will need to bring their laptops
~Track BIIF Championship Trials Friday May 5 @ Kea’au HS 2pm throwing starts and 3pm the Running events and BIIF Championship Finals Saturday May 6 @ Kea’au HS 2pm and 3pm again.
