Prerequisite: A short discussion with the AP Psychology teacher prior to enrollment

Open to Grades 10, 11, and 12.

This course is equivalent to a one-semester introductory college course.  Its purpose is to introduce students to the scientific study of the behaviors and mental processes of human beings and other animals.  Students will learn the research methods and approaches used by psychologists to better understand why we behave the way we do. Relevant topics include the biological bases of behavior, developmental psychology, sensation and perception, states of consciousness, learning, memory, cognition and intelligence, motivation and emotions, personality, psychological disorders, and mental health therapies, and social psychology. Students will be required to take the Advanced Placement Exam for Psychology in May.

AP EXAM FEE: $95.00 (approximate) payable at the beginning of the second semester.
