Advanced Placement Government and Politics [KHO3255 (Alt 11, 12)]

Prerequisite: Recommendation by a social studies teacher

Over the course of the year, this course will examine the key political policies, institutions, and structures that makeup government in Hawaiʻi, the United States, and across the globe. The course will teach students to understand the context of political actions and evaluate their effectiveness in solving unique problems across the world. The first semester will be devoted to the study of the United States Government, while the second semester will focus on comparing governments across the world such as China, Russia, Iran, Nigeria, Great Britain, and Mexico. This course may be appealing to students who are interested in topics of politics, government, sovereignty and formation of governments, and societal change.
