GeoSHAPE: Learning Diagrams

For each vocabulary word up to ____________ (to be announced in class), create a learning diagram. Use the notes and vocabulary list in your booklet to help you. The handout is available in class or can be downloaded and printed here: Learning Diagram Template.

Picture representing the meaning/s (at the bottom). Pictures can be stick figures, fine art, icons, symbols… any visual way of showing the meaning of the word that you can draw. Score is on showing the meaning accurately, not artistic style.

ePortfolio Entry for Social Studies

  • Set up your ePortfolio by following the tutorial (if you have not yet done this in advisory).
  • Read about the 21st century skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and/or creativity in the ePortfolio. These will be your measure of being good and industrious.
  • Choose and reflect on your evidence of being good and industrious in Social Studies class. Only make one slide, for the hola papa when you have Social Studies!
  • Check my sample and rubric; this is a graded formative assignment.
  • Whether you printed your kīhei or worked on this in class, it is due on Thursday 11/12 (even) or Friday, 11/13 (odd).
  • Turn in a link or a legible screenshot of your slide through Google Classroom.

Breaking Down Histories of European Exploration and Settlement

  1. Groups have been assigned a section of Chapter 2 in History Alive! ( at teachtci.com or hardback copy) to read and teach to the class.
  2. Slides available in Google Classroom
    1. Groups choose which slides each student will do
    2. All need 1 – 3  green slides and 1 magenta slide.
  3. Read the directions slide carefully. Key points:
    1. Read the text carefully;
    2. Put together clear answers;
    3. Max 6 bullets per slide;
    4. Max 5 words per bullet; and
    5. Think: Whose stories matter?
  4. Groups will prep briefly and then present on 9/22 (odd) and 9/23 (even). This is a formative assignment.
