Assignments 10/24 – 10/ 27

Election Research

Over the past two classes, students have brainstormed what they know and their questions about the current elections. They have placed questions in broad categories and written research questions for the overall topics. On Monday 10/24 for odd-day classes and on Tuesday 10/25 for even-day classes, student groups chose a broad question about the presidential election to research. They also selected a smaller question for each student to concentrate on. The current assignment is to create a google slideshow — minimum one slide per student — that answers the group research question.

Each slide should have…

  • The Question
  • Bulleted answers in short phrases…. short yet accurate, please. (Full sentences NOT required; no paragraphs allowed).
  • About 5 bullets per slide.

The GROUP must also create a Works Cited slide with all sources of information used by each student. Remember, a url is NOT a citation. USE EASYBIB to create your citations.

This is for formative credit, most likely given in 3rd Trimester grades. Presentations will take place at the time the class covers the information students have researched. Example: Students who researched “What are the powers of the president” will share their slides when we study the Constitution and balance of powers.

Assignment Due 10/5

Compare/Contrast Paragraph 2 (Summative)

Students are to compare and contrast their assigned reading and map/graph in a well-developed paragraph (or series of short paragraphs). Expectations are listed in the post below. Students have received feedback from the assignment dated 9/26, 9/27 as a group, analyzed and summarized the article and map/graph,* met with me to discuss the content, and are now to write on their own.

* Analysis and summary were worked on in class and assigned to finish as HW. My apologies for not getting that assignment on the blog.

Writing is to be turned in via Google Classroom on 10/5. You have until 11:59 pm to be on time.
