Happy Boys’ Day!

This is it!  We’re in cycle 23.  This cycle we have the end-of-the-year MAP tests for Reading and Math on Tuesday and Thursday.  Also, on Wednesday we get to meet the author of “Blue Skin of the Sea,” Graham Salisbury.  This is our last full cycle of Math!  Here is our tentative schedule for cycle 23:

Happy Easter!

Spring is in the air.  I love Easter, because it reminds me of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and hope.  This cycle we are going to Maluhia and sharing our talents with them.  We are also going to see the 5th grade play.  Plus, we have no school on April 18 and 21 because of Easter.  If you’re interested in playing football in middle school, there will be a meeting in my room on April 23.  Here’s a tentative schedule for Cycle 21:

Back from Spring Break!

Welcome back to school!  I hope you all had a great Spring Break.  This cycle Papa Olakino starts up again.  Keep Mrs. Bright in your prayers, because she’s not back yet, so no Music class.  We have Chapel and Early Release on April 9.  Also, book fair is this cycle.  Just 4 more cycles, so take care of your business.  If you need to redo the Ch. 7 test, come and see me to make an appointment.  I will be coming in early the week of April 7, but I only want students who are doing a redo test to come in before school.  Keep practicing for our talent show on April 15.  Practice and see me to tell me the time and give me any music that you need.  April 15 is coming up fast!  For Math, we are learning about estimating fractions and adding and subtracting fractions.  Practice fractions on IXL.  Here is our tentative schedule for cycle 20:

Since today is an Early Release day and we have Chapel, each class will be only 30 minutes.  Please be ready to go.  The first class will be 8-8:30am.  The second class will be with your homeroom teacher.  In the middle of that class you will go to Chapel.  After Chapel, we will have Recess at 10:15am, then you can finish your 2nd class with your Homeroom teacher.  The last class will be 11-11:30am.  After that, we’ll clean up and get our lunch.  We’ll be eating outside today for lunch.  Terminal riders will leave at 12:10pm, and the rest will leave at 12:30pm.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy Girls’ Day!

Well, it’s almost March, and that means that we’re going to the Big Island soon.  Honuamea is on the Big Island right now.  Keep yourself healthy, so you’ll be ready for our Huaka’i.  At the end of this cycle, we have our Ke Ala Pono Assembly for this quarter, and we’ll be learning about registering for middle school.  On April 15 we will be going to a nursing home and sharing our talents with them.  If you would like to be in our talent show, please see me to sign up.  Each participant will earn pono points for their pu’ulu.

Happy Cycle 16!  It’s the beginning of a new cycle, and I hope you all had a nice weekend.  Be sure that you gave your homeroom teacher your Huaka’i forms, so you can come with us to the Big Island.  This cycle you need to take your laptops to Christian Ed.  Tues., Feb. 11 is Math Olympics Contest #4, so bring a water bottle for brain food.  If you didn’t turn in your Jump Rope for Heart money, give it to your homeroom teacher today.  Thurs., Feb. 13 is a La No’ono’o day and we have ‘Ohana in the morning, so if you arrive late to school, meet us in the gym.  Remind your parents that there’s no school on Fri., Feb. 14 and Mon., Feb. 17.  You get a 4-day weekend this week.  You know what that means?  We don’t want to see any “Late”s on Tues., Feb. 18.  Also, remind your parents that Fri., Feb. 21 is an Early Release day, so school ends at 12:30.  Don’t forget to go to Ho’olaule’a on Sat., Feb. 22!  Support the ATP, because a lot of the money raised at Ho’olaule’a comes back to the elementary to help pay for our Big Island trip.

Happy Chinese New Year!  This is a busy cycle with two Huaka’i rotations, parent-student-teacher conferences, Uncle Jin teaching us about homelessness in Hawai’i, and Mrs. Leong teaching us about native plants and animals.  I hope you all enjoyed your 3-day weekend and ordered your Huaka’i shirts.  On Feb. 5 and 6 we will be having our Huaka’i rotations at Ka’iwakilamoku.  Since we are finished with our 4 formal genealogy lessons, we will be learning about native Hawaiian food.  Don’t forget to turn in all of your Huaka’i permission forms by Feb. 7.  Here’s a tentative schedule for this cycle in Math.  I apologize that it’s late.  Last week was a very busy week.  Have a great cycle!
