Mahalo Martin Luther King Jr. and Charles Reed Bishop!

We just finished our first cycle of 2nd semester.  I hope you cycled out already.  Don’t forget:  We have a 3-day weekend coming up.  Also, on Jan. 24 we will be honoring Charles Reed Bishop at a special assembly, so wear your special events uniform.  Also, practice the recitation and “Song of Praise.”  We will have 2 days of Huaka’i rotation instead of Math this cycle.  Also, your Huaka’i Cost Project is due on Jan. 17.  Here’s a tentative schedule for Cycle 14:

Cycle 14

Day 1, Thurs., Jan. 16

We will be revising and editing your Huaka’i response today and working on the final draft.  Be sure your response is in Googledocs under “Shared With Me” and your class name.  Also, start practicing ratios, percents, and proportions (AA) on IXL this cycle.

Homework:  1)  Final draft and Huaka’i cost project  Due Day 2 (1/17)  2)  IXL-AA  Due Day 6 (1/27)

Day 2, Fri., Jan. 17

Today you will print your Huaka’i cost graph and response.  You will turn in your completed project, and put the graph and response in your memory book.  To celebrate finishing our project, we will play Math-O.

Homework:  Bring Hawaiian folder on Day 4 (1/22)

Day 3, Tues., Jan. 21

Today you will go to Ms. Cramer for Math time and learn about astronomy.

Day 4, Wed., Jan. 22

Bring your Hawaiian folder to class today.  Today your pu’ulu will pick a building to share about and write down some facts about it.  Also, you will write down your Ko’u Mo’okuauhao and start memorizing it.

Homework:  1)  Prepare for campus tour  2)  Memorize Ko’u Mo’okuauhao  Due Cycle 15 Day ED (1/29)

Day 5, Thurs., Jan. 23

Today we will learn about ratios and unit rate.  We will also take a pre-test about Ch. 7 on Socrative.

Homework:  7-1 & 7-2  Due Day 6 (1/27)

Day LN, Fri., Jan. 24

No Math today!  Be sure you have on your special events uniform for our Charles Reed Bishop assembly today.  Also, we’ll be learning about native plants from Marian Leong today to prepare for our Big Island trip.

Day 6, Mon., Jan. 27

Today we will practice for Math Olympics.  We will check Strategy 5 and work on Strategy 6.

  1. I am grateful that charles reed bishop gave us our elementary school. I am also grateful that Martin Luther King Jr. gave freedom and proved that wise things can come from anyone.

  2. I am grateful for Matin Luther King Jr. because now there is no segregation between people with different skin colors and because of Charles Reed Bishop, there is a Kamehameha elementary school that I am in.

  3. I am grateful for Charles Reed Bishop because he provided Kamehameha Schools and performed Pauahi’s vision. I am grateful for Martin Luther King Jr. because he proved that all mankind are equal and he provided the freedom that we have today.

  4. I am grateful to Charles Reed Bishop made our elementary school. I am grateful for Martin Luther King because he made a difference for America. He fought for freedom and equality.

  5. I am grateful because they had the guts to do something that no one did and if they didnt our world would be completely different.
