Galatians 5:13-14 (NIV) says,
13 “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.
But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh;
rather, serve one another humbly in love.

14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command:
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Explain what this would mean for a young person today and give an example to support your point of view.

Ke Akua gave humanity the gift of free will.
But with our choices come consequences.
In today’s society, there seems to be a gray area around what is pono.
What are some guidelines to help determine if something
(an activity, a relationship, a decision, etc.) is right or not?

In this year’s elections, people disagreed as to who would be a good political leader.  As a “Christian” (a disciple or follower of Christ, one who resembles Christ) we have the teachings of Jesus as our guide.  Accordingly, what characteristics or qualities do you think are essential and why would these be important for an alakaʻi?

The Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIRV) of the sufficiency of Jesus.

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is all you need. My power is strongest when you are weak.’ So I am very happy to brag about how weak I am. Then Christ’s power can rest on me.  Because of how I suffered for Christ, I’m glad that I am weak. I am glad in hard times. I am glad when people say mean things about me. I am glad when things are difficult. And I am glad when people make me suffer. When I am weak, I am strong.”

What do these verses mean for you in your life?

In the book of Genesis when humans were created, the intention was to be in pilina (relationship) with God.  Today we talk about having a personal relationship, but what exactly does that mean, to be in pilina (relationship) with God?

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

In this passage, Jesus doesn’t promise to get rid of our problems. Instead what does He promise and how can that help us?

A high school student created a word to describe his faith.  He said he’s “Apatheistic” – “Apa-” as in apathetic (don’t care) and “-theist”, one who believes in the existence of God.  He said it’s not about whether he believes or doesn’t believe, but rather he just doesn’t care whether God exists or not… why should he?  What could you say to someone like this young man?

According to Psalm 119:9 (NIV),

“How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to [God’s] word.”

However in this day and age, is it realistically possible?  If so, how?
