This week in First Grade!

We had some awesome sharing earlier this week. Mahalo to Nylessiaʻ ‘ohana for sharing sugar cane! Not only did she bring in a stalk for us to see, her family cut up pieces so that all of the first graders could samples raw sugar cane. We talked about how it came to the islands and how it was processed into sugar. I am sorry to report I did not think to take pictures of the keiki enjoying the cane… will work on my photo skills!
Au‘kele also shared an interesting sand dollar that his father found diving off of Kona. It was interesting to us because we did not know you could find sand dollars here.
Mahalo for bringing home learning into our class!
