‘Ohana Math Night

Mahalo to all who could make it to our ‘ohana math night!  We had fun in the K/1 session making number bonds and poi smoothies.  We are practicing making all the combinations of numbers one through ten.  A strong knowledge of these “number bonds” will make it easier for your child to solve higher math skills like double digit addition, subtraction and even multiplication and division.  Think about how 14 + 23 can be broken into the number bonds of 10+20 and 4+3.  30+7 then 37.  Wasn’t that easy?

Measuring and ono mea were the recipes for poi smoothies.  Thanks for sharing your smoothies- they were delicious!
