We had such a blessed opening of the school year convocation today. The theme was simply bearing good fruit, one of them being ALOHA. Let that be a running mana`o and practice throughout this year, that we practice real and deep love towards others. May God bless each of and this wonderful new year!

Today was our last Ministry gathering. Students ate and got to hang out with one another. Most of all, we thanked Ke Akua for blessing this Kula Ha’aha’a Ministry this year. We asked God to continue to allow His ministry to grow to bring the love of Jesus to others. Mahalo to all the students who gave their time to serve God and others through our ministry. First graders recently had a lesson about the story of Ruth and Naomi. It’s a story of pilina, a relationship of a young daughter in law, Ruth, and her kupuna mother in law, Naomi. Students were asked to find places in the moʻolelo where they could see love, trusting/hilinaʻi or having faith in God, and where they saw pilina. They did a great job expressing their manaʻo on their “quick card” assignment.
The Kula Haʻa Haʻa Ministry has done so much this school year. From serving at our chapel services, having meetings, and celebrating at our Christmas party, it’s all been a very blessed time and I’m so thankful for each of them! May this new year of 2015 be full of more adventures that God has in store for each of us.
The third graders in 3A and 3B are learning the Fruit of the Spirit this year. So far they have learned about how we are made in God’s image, to have heart like His, and that producing the Fruit of the Spirit is a matter of Pilina with God and having lots of help from the Holy Spirit. They also learned that each value or characteristic found in Galatians 5:22-23 is an action and not just pretty words.
Yesterday and today, 3rd graders made a Love pull-card that reminds us of where love comes from, and when we put real aloha into action, it helps to build new Pilina or connections, and can even strengthen our relationships that we already have. Please ask your child to share their card with you and perhaps discuss ways to show love every day.
We had our first God Squad meeting last Thursday and here are the students that attended that meeting. If you still want to join, please see me for a permission letter to take home.

E Maika`i a Pa`ahana- Be Good and Industrious
It’s so great to be back! God surely is faithful and good. Today we had our first “Get to Know You” Ministry meeting. Right now we have about 35 interested students who attended the meeting, and also an additional 15 or so who did not attend. It looks like another blessed year ahead concerning the Kula Ha`aha`a Ministry! Students are excited to start and so am I.
I pray that God blesses each of us, our students and families as well as our kula. When God blesses, it’s not always in material things, but more in the spiritual things. I pray we are all able to see the abundant blessings of His deep aloha every day in our lives and in each other.
Psalm 63:8 “I hold on to you. Your powerful right hand takes good care of me.”
Such a wonderful year with these ministry students! Over fifty faithful haumāna stuck it out and continued to serve even if that meant giving up a recess here and there. I am so thankful for their aloha and heart to serve in big and small ways. All of which are so important, all of which have great value in God’s eyes. Have a blessed summer, and I do pray that each of you returns to ministry next year, whether it’s here at our Kula Ha`aha`a or at Kula Waena. Much aloha!
The 5th graders received their mini Bibles from Kahu Ruth today with a short mana’o explaining the waiwai of God’s word. We pray that it will always be a lamp for their feet and a light for their path!
What a truly God-blessed convocation! From pule to the hīmeni, to all the mana’o, and paukū, every part glorified our Makua Lani, our Heavenly Father! It was the perfect time to reflect on how God has blessed and shown His favor over our kula and over all of us. It was a time to humbly and sincerely mahalo Jesus for all He has done and continues to do. I am thankful for the new life I have in Jesus Christ, and the ways He shows me to be renewed every day! A special mahalo to our Keiki Kahu, Carlos, for always being ‘eleu and willing to serve! Awesome mana’o today!
