A Senior Legacy

Last Thursday the kindergarten classes were invited to participate in a special olympics here at our high school gymnasium. We were joined by two preschool classes from Kea’au School. All of the keiki had fun playing together and getting to know new friends. Harley’s- our senior-intent was for the children to learn to work and play together with a variety of children. It was fun making new friends and seeing many of the seniors we taught … just a few years ago!

Kindergarten Visits the Gardens in Middle School

Last Friday both Kindergarten classes had a walking huaka‘i up to middle school. There Mr. Floro’s class of 6th graders met us and showed us how to plant kalo. There were big and little huli prepared to return to soil that the students had mulched as well. We all got our hands into the soil as we planted and had the chance to look around at other garden projects our middle school friends are doing as well. We plan to return in a month to notice and measure the growth.

Learning About Our School Kaia‘ulu

The week before fall break both kindergarten classes invited different school workers to come in to our classes to share about their kuleana at school. KA had visits from Aunty Honey Girl (custodian), Mrs. Varise (EA), Uncles Charlie and Kenney (grounds), Mrs. Kaneakua (counselor) and Kumu Iaea-Honda (vice principal). They all graciously shared about their duties and the keiki had opportunity to asak questions and take pictures. After the guests left we worked on an iPad project recording this information into an app called Explain Everything.
