Zoom

Overview

Zoom is a video‑conferencing tool students use to join virtual classes, meet with teachers, and participate in online group work. It supports screen sharing, breakout rooms, chat, and recordings, making it useful for remote learning and collaboration. Students could use Zoom to attend online sessions, communicate with classmates, and stay connected when learning from different locations.

Login

DESKTOP APP:

  1. On the left side of your Mac’s dock that is on the bottom of the screen, find the “Apps” icon on the left side and open it.
  2. Search for “zoom.us” and click on it to open the desktop application.
  3. If you are not yet signed in with your KS account, click on “Sign in” on the Zoom Workplace home page.
  4. Sign in with Google by clicking on the “Google” button with the logo.
  5. You will be redirected to the Google login page on your web browser.
  6. Login with your KS (@imua.ksbe.edu) email address and password.

WEB VERSION:

  1. In your browser, visit https://zoom.us/signin.
  2. Sign in with Google by clicking on the “Google” button with the logo.
  3. Login with your KS (@imua.ksbe.edu) email address and password.

Updating

Please regularly update your desktop Zoom application. Refer to these steps to update Zoom:

  1. In your Mac’s dock OR Spotlight Search, find the “Self Service” application and open it.
  2. In Self Service, search for “Zoom M1” and click “Install” to run the update.
    • The process may take 1-2 minutes.
  3. Once the update completes and Zoom M1 says “Reinstall,” you may quit out of Self Service. Do not run the reinstallation process.
  4. Find Zoom on your laptop and open it.

To check your version number in Zoom, click on “Zoom Workplace” in the menu bar next to the Apple logo, and select “About Zoom Workplace.”

FAQs

In the Zoom app, I receive a message saying: "Update required: The app is outdated. Please update your Zoom Workplace to the latest version."

I receive a message saying "Approval required" from admin and that I need to enter justification for using the app.
