Got A Poem In Your Pocket?

Today was Lā Poema ‘Inipākeke (Poem in Your Pocket) Day at Kula Ha’aha’a in honor of National Poetry Month! The students carried poems in their pockets. If tapped on the shoulder by someone, the students would whip out their poem and share! All of the 5B FISH! got to share their poems with each other in class during our Morning Meeting time. They continued to have a great time sharing their poems ALL day with student as well as teachers, even at lunch! Great job Randon of sharing your original basketball poem! Here’s a poem I shared with Gr. 3-5 students and teachers at Morning ‘Oli:
“The Voice”
There is a voice inside of you
That whispers all day long,
“I feel that this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong.”
No teacher, preacher, parent, friend
Or wise man can decide
What’s right for you-just listen to
The voice that speaks inside!
**The students discussed how they can connect this poem to many different Hawaiian Values…ask your keiki about it! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
