Bio:
Kenneth Makuakane has received a total of twelve (12) Na Hokū Hanohano Awards. In 1990, Kenneth won a Hokū Award for Producer of the Year. In 1990 Kenneth Makuakane was awarded the Composer of the Year award from Kamehameha Schools. Kenneth Makuakane is recognized as an innovator in producing and in the recording of Hawaiian music. He has recorded many groups, including Na Leo Pilimehana, HAPA, Amy Hanaiali’i Gilliom, Obrian Eselu, Jeff Rasmussen and the the Pandanus Club. To date, Kenneth has produced over one hundred albums, many of which have been successful albums for their record companies. He performs with the Pandanus Club, a multi-award winning group. As producer for the Club’s albums, Kenneth also is the composer of the music. In addition, he engineers each release.

Abstract:
Kenneth will demonstrate how he has used digital music technologies in his work. A typical demonstration will include examples of music and music soundtracks related to Hawaii and its culture and then branch out into demonstrating creation of music and soundtrack within GarageBand, a powerful consumer program which is part of the iLife Series by Apple, and included with every contemporary Apple computer.
