InAWorld…Drama

InAWorld…Drama ($1.99) is an iPad app and iPhone app that helps create your very own trailers. With preset dialogue scripts to choose from, you can star in your very own 30 second movie trailer.

Features I like:
First, I like the ease of having preset features, such as music, voice, script dialogue, and organization. This allows for quick trailer making which anyone can do. You just add title, pick the script, add in photos, choose a soundtrack and BOOM…the app creates a 30 second movie trailer. You donʻt have worry about transitions, wording, spelling, or finding appropriate music. Itʻs all set for you. There is a good range to choose from for the features.

Another feature I like is that you can get a embedded code to post in your blog. Though you do have to sent it to their site for approval, it does not take that long for it to be approved and the link to be sent to you. However, if you do not want to post it on the web you always have it saved on the app.

Cons:
One of the down falls for this app is that besides inputting your own pictures, most of all the features are preset. Even though having it preset could be good, since it makes it easy to create, sometimes the dialogue scripts does not quite match with what you would like to create.

Kidʻs Reactions:
While at a family gathering, I decided to try it with my little cousins, ages 5-8. I secretly took random pictures of them through out the night and had them pose in funny faces. Then I put together a trailer and showed it to them. They totally loved it! It was like their own personal movie. Then they got into making their own movies and using my iPad to take the pictures. They would pick a dialogue, act out the script to match, take a picture and create the movie trailer. Within 5 minutes from beginning to end they had a movie.

So I ideas that I thought would be good for this was for making previews for upcoming plays, concerts, field trips, biography studies, introductions to people students will be studying, and upcoming topics studying.

Here is a movie trailer I used with this app for our first graders play. The teachers were able to post on their blog to give parents a quick preview of what they would see during the play.
