Happy Valentine’s Day!
Love was in the air today as the students celebrated this special holiday! They created personally made Valentine cards for their loved ones and delighted in treats of all kinds! Mrs. Varize even brought a chocolate fountain for students to dip fruits (bananas, pineapples, and strawberries) and other food items like pretzels, marshmallows, and animal crackers. It was yummy! Micah blessed the class with chocolate dipped strawberries and Caden brought a treat, which was topped with toothpicks… some with mustaches and some with lips! Below see how each child looks with theirs.
100th Day of School Celebration!
On Wednesday, January 30th, we celebrated the 100th Day of Second Grade! We sang, danced, counted, and read! We also made our own trail mix of 100 pieces of food. We took 10 pieces of 10 food items and put them in a bag.
After putting all of the items in a ziplock bag we jiggled and shook to mix it up! (See video below!)
Then, we delightfully ate our trail mix! It was a fun and delicious way to celebrate the 100th Day!
Family Tree – Student Project
Aloha Parents and Students!
Second graders will be working on a project this trimester to learn more about their name, themselves, and their ‘ohana. Students brought home a letter today (12-12-2012) about this project. Attached was a sheet (Important Family Names) where you can list parents’ and grandparents’ full names. Students also brought home a Family Tree template to attach copies of photos (colored, no originals please!) Students are expected, with the assistance of their parents, to attach the photos and write the names of their ‘ohana on their family tree. The list of names and family tree is due: January 11, 2013.
