Hau`oli Lā Aloha

Papa 1 enjoyed an hour full of activities and fun to celebrate our aloha for each other. We wrote and decorated aloha cards, had a chocolate fondue full of marshmallows, strawberries, cookies and other goodies. Uncle Ron (Dara’s dad) made both classes cupcake and frosting. We were able to decorate and eat the yummy dessert. We also got to do some fun activities and then ended our fun by sharing our cards with a special classmate. We had a great afternoon.

100 Days of Kula

To celebrate our 100 days of kula we gathered snacks.  This simple yet fun activity required math skills that we are learning.  The keiki needed to group their chosen snacks into tens, creating a variety of ways to make 100.  Check out the fun we had.

Speech Festival 2013

Our keiki have worked very hard memorizing, practicing and perfecting their speeches.  Each student performed their chosen piece individually or with their respective hui.  We began with our preliminary round in which our groups Mirror Mirror (Tehani, Dara, Kalissa, and `Ailani), When Freddie ate Spaghetti ( Malachi, Ethan, and Lucas), Ka Huli (Kalā), How Hilo Got Its Name (Liwai, Kāhili, and Damien), and All My Great Excuses (Keanu) made it pass and on to the semi-finals.  Then representing our papa 1 at the finals were Mirror, Mirror and Ka Huli.  Congratulations to ALL our kamali`i for their pono work.   Check out our two finalists.

Mahalo i nā mea loa`a……….

It is during this time of the year that we reflect on the love and support that we receive. We are very blessed to be a part of so many different things; school, `ohana, sports, and people.  Please take a few minutes and post one thing that you and your `ohana are thankful for.  Be safe and enjoy your lā ho`omaika`i!

na, Kumu Kaleo

I am thankful for my `ohana, especially my mom and dad who are helping me raise my 8 year old son.  They kōkua kumu by taking Kalei to school, picking him up, watching him, and taking him to his extra-curricular activities.  Without the kako`o (support) from them, I would probably not be able to take care of my kuleana as a papa 1 kumu.  Mahalo nui! To Kalei, mahalo for being a good boy.  It’s makes life that much easier on dad, LOVE YOU!!!  And to my other 20 keiki, mahalo for coming to school, always trying your best and showing aloha to one another. Love you guys!!!
