What’s “down” in Digital Media?
Want to be an anchor? Need to shoot a project on the green screen? Trying to figure out how to do a voice over? Come on down to the basement of Midkiff to the TV Studio and we can help you.
You can sign up for our classes under the Midkiff Learning Center tab. We offer Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, and Studio Production courses. Our award winning program offers internships, field trips, and exposure to professional equipment and programs. Video 1 provides you with an introduction to video media and the process of producing a variety of videos.
Video 2 & 3 builds on those skills and gives you access to higher end equipment. As you build confidence, you also gain independence in choosing your own projects.
Studio Production produces the Puka Mai Ka Lā broadcast. Students who want to work behind the scenes can learn all the different crew positions as well as how to run the equipment. They also get creative control to choose the set, the look and how the show runs.
Electronic Media and Communication Technology (EMCT) is a joint class with the Speech department. Students who wish to be an anchor should enroll in this class. You can get an upper level Speech credit.
If you need help with a project for another class, come visit us. Our digital media department helps you to transform your creative ideas to reality through assistance with equipment and resources. Teachers, we are here to support you! We are ready to collaborate from project planning to assessment. Teachers Kumu Leah and Mr. Freitas lend their experience to assist you in taking your projects to the next level.
