Christian Education at Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus

The Christian Education program on the Maui Campus seeks to fulfill the desire of Ke Ali‘i for the Kamehameha Schools to be grounded in spiritual and Christian values.  We will strive to form a community that demonstrates our love for God and our community by seeking God’s leading in creating the following:

Worshipping Community– To form an ‘ohana which embraces every opportunity to sing our praises to Ke Akua, that lifts up our whole life in prayer and thanksgiving to Ke Akua, that connects our daily lives with Ke Akua, enabling us to see the bond between the material and the spiritual, the individual and the community.

Learning Community– To form an ‘ohana that is constantly open to renewal and change, that continually searches the scriptures and traditions (‘imi ‘ike) to discern Ke Akua’s call for the future. Develop and implement bi-weekly Christian Education classes for grades K-12 that is age-appropriate.

Caring Community– To form an ‘ohana that practices:

  • Laulima- a unique and powerful “togetherness” (Ephesians 2:14-22)
  • Mälama- “care for one another” (1 Thessalonians 5:15), “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2)
  • Huikala- forgive each other (Colossians 3:13)
  • Ho‘opai- “build one another up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11),
  • Aloha- “love one another deeply from the heart” (1 Peter 1:22)
  • Lökahi- “live in harmony with one another” (Romans 12:16).
