Papa Kalikiano – ʻElua

CURRICULUM FOCUS:

Students will independently use their learning to demonstrate their understanding of Biblical truths.

To know God is to love God. In the 2nd grade, the keiki are learning about the greatness and worth of God. We will be addressing the following questions:

Who is God?

What is He like?

How should I act toward Him?

They are learning that God is eternal, attentive, omnipresent (is everywhere!), omniscient (knows everything), good, righteous, holy, merciful, loving and forgiving. As they learn about God, they will also reflect on how they can apply these lessons to their lives. For example, because God is omniscient, we can trust Him to wisely guide us through our lives.

On our Christian Education blog, http://blogs.ksbe.edu/anyoung/, the haumāna can read the Bible stories from the Old and New Testament. They can also listen to songs that we sing in class and at Chapel. On their iPads, they can read and interact with the various Bible stories.

Every Wednesday, we have K-3 Bible Club. It begins at 7:05 and ends at 7:35. All are invited to attend. Keiki are allowed to eat their breakfast in our room and participate in the fellowship and the fun. In Bible Club, we sing to the Lord, pray, read the Bible, play games, do crafts, and watch Bible story videos. It’s a great way to grow in our faith and to make new friends from other kindergarten to third grade classes. Haumāna who attend Bible Club have an opportunity to earn “Bible Bucks” through scripture memory and attendance. Once a month, our Bible Club store will open up and haumāna with “Bible Bucks” can purchase little trinkets and toys as a reward for hiding God’s Word in their hearts!

Prayer is an essential part of our curriculum. At the beginning of every class, we pray out loud for one another. God graciously answers our prayers. If you have prayer requests, please email us at anyoung@ksbe.edu or crnakama@ksbe.edu or call us at 842-8208.

This year our spiritual theme is “Ike piha ʻia a Aloha piha ʻia” – Fully Known, and Fully Loved.” God’s Aloha pauʻole – His never-ending love – is woven through all that we do in Christian Education.
