Check Out Our New Millionaires!

Wow!  Can you even remember when students were in shock that they were going to be required to read 1,000,000 words this year?  That was so long ago and instead of students looking shocked with their mouths hanging open…they took like FISH! to water and “swam strong” instead!  They “dove deep” into great books and now we welcome more MILLIONAIRES to the pond!  Congratulations to Tyce, Shania, and Kaiolohia (You go girl!  Håweo awardee AND Millionaire all in one day!)  Looking at things in the “can do” positive perspective ALWAYS helps to acheive your goals!  Great job ka’u ia!

Ho’omaika’i to Our April Håweo Awardees!

Congrats to Kacelyn and Kaiolohia!  Whoop!  Whoop!  Yay!  The girls are our latest 5B FISH! Håweo award winners for the month of April.  The Hawaiian value that they exemplify is ho’oulu…to grow; to sprout! Both girls have stretched and grew so much over the course of the year!  Mahalo to the ohana members who joined us for a fabulous lunch in their honor & for coming to school in such short notice due to my calendaring errors!  It was a great way to spend lunch, judging by the smiles all around!

Look What Has Landed!

With the multitude of rain nowadays…so much Johnny rainclouds, here’s another perspective!  Makawalu!  Love that Kaulana shared this photo with me from his ranch!  He shared that the flock live there and that he and his ohana make sure that they are good stewards by always taking care of the Nene! It sure makes my day that students share w/me all kinds of stuff at night & the weekends!  We are so grateful to be connected w/our ipads!  Choose a great attitude and have a great day!

Content-Smashing!

The students are off to a great start for this week as they learn about math formulas, volume in particular and smash in techonolgy and writing! Here they used Tinkercad to explore how to create object that they will be finding the volume for! They also will be using their math expertise on formulas to collaborate to replicate something in our world!   Thanks Miss Galang for your help!

image image image image image image image Judging  from all smiles, the 5B FISH! had a great time learning! Below is the homework assignment for tonight. Students need to create a math response that show their computational skills, strategies that they used to solve (illustrations, labels, etc), and write a short response using math vocabulary words that RELATE to the concept! Pheew! What a content-smash!  All the while having a blast while learning!  See the homework for tonight below.

Grand Finale of Spring Concerts…

The 5B FISH! are ready to perform at their last spring concert at Kula Ha’aha’a.  As you can tell by the smiles on all the faces, they are set to enjoy the moment!  What a memorable moment it was as the night began with the Lurline sailing into port at the Ha’aeamahi dining hall. The 5th graders sang and danced the night away…such a fitting theme as they swim strong to prepare to set sail to middle school.

All set to entertain you!
