Ohana Alert for the Week of Sept. 21-25

Here’s the week at a glance…Hope your weekend was wonderful…filled with relaxing Ohana time!  Previously posted “Our Future Looks Bright” video is working correctly…please go back and view it!  Thanks Ciana for bringing tech issue to my attention!

FOOD SERVICE APPRECIATION DAY COMING!  We humbly ask for donations of snacks/makana from Papa ‘Elima ohana for the hard-working crew in our dining hall food service section.  The Aunties and Uncles of Ha’aeamahi work tirelessly to provide our keiki with nutritional and ono snack and food on a daily basis.  If possible, please send donations to Kumu Marcie as the deadline is on Thurs., Sept. 24.   Mahalo in advance for your kindness and generosity!

Reminder:  IXL skills are extension of classroom learning and students are given a week to complete. It is usually assigned on Tuesdays and due on the following Tuesday.  The week is given to allow students to work it into their busy schedules & be able to plan.  Also, homework is assigned M-Th with 30 mins. of reading daily + one other assignment!  Please sign planners ONLY after work is complete.  Planners are a great way to keep a pulse on level of keiki kuleana.  If you see a stamp in planner, assignment was not turned in.  This would be a great time to look through the planner & have a discussion on kuleana as incomplete work does impact their grades!  Celebrate the successes or sharing reminders of expectations would be appreciated as we team together for the success of all keiki!  Mahalo for your continued support to help students strive to thrive!

5B I’a:  If you do NOT have your iPads with you this weekend, it would be great to have a conversation with your Ohana to share why & create a plan together.

Mon., Sept. 21 is a Day 2 🙂

Fri., Sept. 25-Day 6:  Aloha Wear day!  Come in your beautiful colors!  I hear a photo op coming!  🙂

Heads up for the upcoming last week of September:  The class will be visiting the PTO annual book fair on Mon., Sept. 28th, have $ in envelope if keiki will be making purchases!  Feel free to stop at the bookstore and shop!

We will be having a ‘SPECIAL” visitor on Wed., Sept. 30th in our class all the way from New Jersey!  Ask your keiki all about it!  We are so excited for this opportunity!

Aloha e nå 5B Ohana,

Get those calendars out, here’s the happenings for the upcoming week!  A gentle reminder that planners share daily assignments and due dates and students have homework Mon-Thurs.  Reading for 30 mins is assigned nightly and reading logs must be signed after completion 🙂 Reading logs are a great conversation started between you and your keiki as many questions can be asked regarding great books!  IXL skills are also assigned every Tuesday and due on the following Tuesday to allow students the opportunity to complete during the week.  Ask your keiki about our conversation about good enough vs. best effort!

HANGING OUT W/MR. AGANUS TO START THE DAY!

Every Friday, we start our day off with a F-U-N activity that focuses on teambuilding!  We work hard at communicating, collaborating, being creative to problem-solve & offer the opportunity for every voice in class to equally be heard…and of course, have fun together!  Take a look at our activity today.

Students were tasked to propel themselves from one pilar to the next on our walkway in total unison!  They had to be in sync, in mind and body and be able to do this quickly…3 mins. to be exact!  Our mana’o nui…every member counts, we all need to collaborate quickly, leadership is shared, and a good attitude is necessary!  Judging from the laughter and smiles, it sure was a fun Friday!  Ask your keiki all about this!

Håweo Honors, Kula Ha’aha’a Celebrates Ohana!

Siddalee's Ohana

Siddalee’s Ohana

Kai's Ohana

Kai’s Ohana

As you all know from our Open House meeting, Håweo awards have shifted its focus.  Instead of honoring the students, the students had a chance to honor their ohana!  Today we honored our first families at Kula Ha’aha’a for all their dedication in helping their keiki thrive! Judging by the smiles on all the faces, it was a huge success!  We, in 5B, look forward to honoring all our ohana in the months to come!
