Looking at things from a different perspective…the students shared their thoughts on what Makawalu means.  Here is  a picture that Brock found that depicts Makawalu.  The following are art pieces that hang at Kaʻiwakīloumoku Cultural center on the Kapālama campus.  **NOTE: Stay tuned for student work on this topic using the Aurasma (Augmented reality app)…This is a cool app that we used during our Makawalu Hilo presentation that allows you to dive deeper into learning by dragging your tech device over a picture.

Hereʻs our week at a glance…Do you realize that we have only 7 more weeks until the school year ends?  Seems like we just got started and now weʻre beginning the dash to the end of the year!  Still much to accomplish and celebrate before summer rolls around.

Reminder that 9 genre requirement for this last trimester as well as completing the 28 chapter books to meet the one million word goal!  Keep on reading!

Mon., April 7-Day 4:  It is library day today.  Donʻt forget to bring back any books to avoid the fine!

Tues., April 8-Day 5:  Hāweo Luncheon to celebrate our March awardees…Congrats to Kylan and Mahina!

Wed., April 9-Day 6:  Spring Concert rehearsal today.  Plan to rock on with the Beatles!

Thurs., April 10-Day 1: Nā Koa Reward day #8…be on the lookout for the flyers going home earlier this week!

Fri., April 11-Day 2:  Spring concert tonight at 6pm.  Come hear the students perform the music that changed the world!  Students will be paying tribute to one of the worldʻs most iconic bands…The Beatles!

Heads up for the following week…K-5 Easter convocation on Mon., April 14:  Save the dress whites!
