Welcoming our IT visitors into our classroom

The KS IT Team from O’ahu visited our Kea’au campus today to see how technology (specifically the iPads) are being used in our classroom.  The students got to share all thing “techie” that they are working on.  They shared how they are creating their eProgressfolios to present to ohana for student-led conferences at the end of the week, how they post comments to class blog (and share valuable feedback to their peers from writing critique/support, correcting misconceptions, to posing new inquiry questions) and how they  are preparing for Greg Kulowiec’s (Mr. App-Smash, iPad Summit presenter, techie extraordinaire) Project X (to join this project, click here by March 31st http://kulowiectech.blogspot.com/2014/02/global-screencasting-project-alphabet-x.html?m=1#sthash.A4dNKeSz.NnVBzE6r.uxfs ) to collaborate in a worldwide screencast of the alphabets of the world!  We also had an opportunity to briefly share how our team will be participating in a quad-blogging adventure with a class from Australia and 2 from England.

The mana’o nui (Big Idea) today…how technology has enhanced our learning tremendously!  Our hope is that they enjoyed hearing our mo’olelo of our evolution from great students to great “tech-savvy” students as much as we did sharing our journey!  Can’t imagine life before iPads!    Maka hana ka ‘ike!  In the journey, there is knowledge! Imua ka’u I’a…Imua Kamehameha!

Students:  What level do you think you have attained with the projects you shared today?  Select a level you feel we are at with a project in mind and share proof/evidence to support your choice.  (Explain why you feel we are at that level).  Share a brief synopsis of the project so anyone looking at our class blog can have a clear understanding of what you are saying.  NOTE:  To be completed in class on Wed., Feb. 25th.
