Ohana Alert! Week of Sept. 12-16

Here comes another week!  I have gotten some positive feedback from students and parents who say that this weekly ohana alert is useful so, you can expect to see it every weekend for the upcoming week.  Get those calendars out, here we go!

Monday, Sept. 12: Ekalesia @ Lunalilo Hale.  Students are required to wear dress whites.  Long blue slacks for our boys and blue skirts for our girls.

5B will also be swimming on that day so please pack swim suits and a towel as well.   Students:  Come with a topic and 10 inquiry questions connected to our huaka’i at Mokupāpapa.

Thursday, Sept. 15:  Mid-Trimester. Keep reading those books!  9 genre requirement for the trimester.  Here are some suggestions on finding a book that you would enjoy: look in our classroom library or book rail in front of class for featured books, have a conversation with a  teammate to get a recommendation, or ask me!  I might have a suggestion that would fit your interest!  Check on Kumu Kanani’s blog if you need additional assistance with finding a great book that will take your imagination on a journey!

*NOTE:  A Genre Reading Log is now posted on our blog.  Click on the tab directly under our class header to view the different genres and requirements for each trimester.  See blog posting below for more information.

TO PLAN FOR…UPCOMING EVENTS AT KULA HAʻAHAʻA:

Wednesday, Sept. 21:  5B Book Fair Book viewing day!  This would be a great opportunity to find a book in a different genre area.

Friday, Sept. 23:  Math Night…Come experience math with us!  A great time to learn all about what our keiki do in math.  A few teachers will be presenting and sharing mana’o in fun and exciting ways!
