Our Mission

The mission of Kamehameha Schools Kapālama High School’s Character Education Program, Ka Pūnāwai Ola, is to work together with students, staff, & families to:

  • identify core ethical values that support the Hawaiian Values defined in the Strategic Plan II;
  • model these values;
  • help our students learn them;
  • provide opportunities for students, staff and families, alike, to practice these values;
  • encourage all members of the KHS community to work toward creating a vibrant Hawaiian community

We are grounded in the Core Ethical Values defined by the high school community.  There are four basic components to the program:

  • Grade level initiatives & co-curricular projects
  • Integrated curriculum that supports & encourages the development of good character
  • Service Learning
  • Parent involvement

Efforts have been made to initiate action in all four areas.  The most significant progress has been made in the implementation of grade level initiatives.
