Our Core Ethical Values

The following values serve as the guiding principles for supporting haumāna in the development of personal character & servant leadership at each grade level.

9: Mālama (nourishment)

Nurturing; understanding the feelings & needs of others.  The ability to show compassion & to be genuinely concerned for the well-being of others.  Mālama kekahi i kekahi – to care for one another.

10: Hō‘ihi (respect)

Showing regard for the worth of God, parents/elders, self, others, & the environment.  To be humble & considerate towards others.  Hō‘ihi aku, hō‘ihi mai – to give & to receive respect.

11: Kuleana (responsibility)

The active side of respect; showing humility; taking care of self, others, & the environment; making a positive impact on the community.  No‘u iho ke kuleana – the responsibility is mine.

12: Pono (integrity)

Courage to stand up for what is right, true, & good; doing what you say you will do.  ‘Imi na‘au pono – to seek what is right.
