Lono i ka Makahiki!
It was a beautiful day Saturday in Waimea for the 8th Annual Makahiki. Our twelve elementary warriors were up and ready to go very early in the morning. The skies were blue, the air crisp and Mauna Kea clear in the background as the puu sounded to begin the protocol for the day. The keiki were excited and nervous at the same time as this is their first time competing. They rose to the occasion and competed very well in their perspective events. Everyone competed and several placed in each of the events.
Mahalo to all the students who committed themselves to practices and to being there to compete and represent our school. Mahalo to the parents who committed as well.
Special mahalo to Mrs. Pai for her kokua, and Kumu Kaleo and Kumu Kala for their support.
The keiki are already looking forward to next year.
