From Caterpillar to Chrysalis

Wow! What a sight! Wasn’t it amazing to watch one of our caterpillars form its chrysalis yesterday?! What did you notice? What surprised you? What do you wonder about?
As we observe the life cycle of monarch butterflies and the stages they go through as they change, what connections do you have? What changes have you gone through since you were born? What about during your time here at Kamehameha? What do you think is important about theses changes?

When we watched the caterpillar form to a chrysalis it was amazing! You have to be quiet and wait for the caterpillar to form. You have to be patient and wait for 50 minutes.I wonder why caterpillars transform to a butterfly?

I noticed that the chrysalis was coming out of its body,I wonder what the green chrysalis is made of. How do caterpillars get yellow to green. The thing that surprised me is that the chrysails came from its body. I get longer like them allmost like every day.My face looks very different from when I was born especialy my hair and how long it is and a little bit by the color. I learnd more about hawaiian coulture, and the language. And I got much smarter. I think if I didn`t grow longer I would be a miget and be short. If I wasn`t hawaiian I would not have got in to this school and be smarter from PRE K.

I noticed the chrysalis comes out of the caterpillars head it was green it was very grouse!The caterpillar skin sheded it went up to the top of the chrysalis then it moved around and all of the caterpillar skin came off

Yesterday we got to see a caterpillar turn in to a chrysalis. I noticed that the caterpillar sheeded his skin and the inside is green and thare is a lair of green stuff that looks like rubber. I wonder what the lair of green is.m I think that my sister was a big change in my life.

I notice that the caterpillar that was forming a j it was turning darker because I commpaerd the othere caterpillar that was on the bottom of the cantaner and the one that was foeming the j. I was suprised when I was wachting the caterpillar was riping its skin and it was like danceing that was cool :]. I wonder what is in the inside. is the out side skin that is black white and yelolow fake ? some changess when I was born is that my dad had a devores with my mom and I was growng up not a baby any more. things change when I was in kamehameha was that it was a new school for me when I first came and when I started moveing grades I was sad leving my othere teachars and meetin new teachars was nevous to me.

I noticed that every now and then the caterpillar would sway its head. It surprised me how long it took for the caterpillar to form a chrysalis! I wonder what makes makes a chrysalis form? My connection is that humans AND caterpillars have a life cycle. When I was young,I was really small. Now I’m really TALL! I think that I wasn’t that smart in kindergarten,but now I’m really smart! Also,my handwriting got neater! I think changes are important ’cause it helps you to learn for your parent days,and it makes you a better person.

I noticed that the caterpillar was getting rid of his/her skin. And I wonder what that thing that fell of the caterpillar was. I think that thing was black and round and had some yellow stripe.

yesterday we got to see the caterpiller form its chrysails i think it was kinda cool and gross.I wounder why the chrysails comes out of itws mouth?my interest have change from when i was small. And when i came to Kamehameha i met new friends and learned lots of new thing.Both mine and the catipilers life changed.

Well, I don’t know if I have any connections to the caterpillars’ stages in life, or I do but I can’t think of any. Coming to Kamehameha schools really changed my life alot like I couldn’t see my friends, I have to wake up at 5:00 and go to sleep at 7:00. Going to Kamehameha school made me realize that being Hawaiian is a big part of my life. A change that I’m doing right now is wearing uniforms. I think that these changes are important because first your limited, then your free but you get to get smarter by making the right choice.

I noticed that the caterpillar was yellow then light green then dark green then it made its chrysalis.I got suprised when the caterpillar was Danceing while it was making its chrysalis. I wonder how Monarch caterpillars do its Life Cycle. ( I have one connection to the caterpillar) I grew taller and the caterpillar grows Bigger and bigger.I have way Longer Hair from when I was a baby till now.I look diffrent now compared to kindergarden.My life commpared to the caterpillars life is almost the same because we both grew bigger then when we where a baby.

i wonder how it makes its chrysalis because it is a caterpillar in his jay and sudenly it sheds it skin and it became a chrysalis. i think the lines on the chrysalis was the caterpillar. i changed a lot in seven years like when i was 1 i couldn’t waik and now i can walk i could not feed my self and now i can walk.

I noticed that when caterpillars are starting to make it’s chrysalis it gets shorter so they can fit in the chrysalis. I was surprised when the caterpillar was turning green also. I was also surprised that it actually took that long.I wonder how is a chrysalis made, I wonder if the caterpillar is starving in it’s chrysalis? When caterpillars change in to a monarch butterfly do they eat still the same food?When I change my age and my grade and for caterpillars connection is when they eat they get bigger.My changes are that I got taller,smarter,I have longer hair and got my ears pierced.I made new friends and new teachers and new hawaiian words.

I thought that the chrysalis looked squishy on the top.I thought it was cool when the chrysalis was wiggling because it looked funny.I wonder if two chrysalis can be stuck to eachother.I changed since I was born because now I can walk,talk,run and eat food.I also am taller.Changes are important because now we can get smarter and we grow and it helps us in life.Changes helps us live our dreams.

It surprised my when the Caterpillar’s head fell off. I wonder if the caterpillar eats all the leves and then when it turns into a chrysalis the leves make it’s chrysalis. My connection is that we are just like catpillars because caterpillars don’t al-ways make it to a butterflies and babys don’t always get their whole body. I think that it is important about the caterpillars changes because when their caterpillars they stay at the crown flower tree but when their butterflies they travel and see the world.
The changes that I have gone through at Kamehameha is I’m meeting new friends and I’m about to come out of my chryslies. I think that it is important because I’m growing up to be the best I can be.

The connection I have with the caterpillars changes is one of the important changes in my life. It was when I changed schools because now I have a better education then when I was at Nana’ikapono. I’m grateful to be at KES because I’m learning much more than my friend who still go’s to that school.

I noticed that when the caterpillar almost formed it`s chrysalis that the old skin came off. It looked like its head fell off. I also noticied that when it made its J there was a web on the top of it. The catepillar was so big. It looked like it was doing sit ups upsidedown!
The thing that suprised me was that the caterpillar was on my table! I was excited to be able to watch the first catepillar in our container form its chrysalis. The other thing that surprised me was that we watched for 50 minutes and it was past our lunch time and we had lunch late at 12:00.
I wonder what is the chrysalis made out of. I wonder how the catepillar gets smaller to fit in the chrysalis.
When I was a baby I used to crawl like the catepillar. When I got older I started to walk, run and jump. When I was a baby I could talk and I just cried. As I am growing up I can talk and tell stories and share different things with other people.

I noticed that when the caterpillar was turning into a chrysalis, it looked like it was walking on air. The thing that surprised me was when the chrysalis got up to the caterpillars butt it shed it’s skin. I wonder why the chrysalis is green? How is a butterfly the next form of a caterpillar because they look completely different? Well it’s like they grow and it’s like how we grow. But we don’t form a chrysalis in like the middle of our life. Life got harder and more complicated. It got harder and more fun. I think whats important is that we get smarter, getting better grades and getting healthier.

I just visited your classroom on friday and I saw what kind of books you like to read, your beetles and your catterpillars. I am sure the rest of your year with Mrs. Nakamoto will be great. I hope your catterpillars and your beetles have good lives too :).

I am improving on my math skills. I’ve been going on the site that you reccomended and it really helped. I did fractions, division, and multiplication today. plus I got to play a game that helps also.
