Holiday Celebrations

December 20th, 2010 by tinakamo

We celebrate the holiday season in unique ways.  We participate in certain activities, eat certain foods and celebrate certain events.  Our holiday traditions are usually based on our ethnicity, our faith and our family.  What are your holiday traditions?  How are you celebrating the holiday season?  Is there any special meaning to what you are doing?

WOOH, HOOH! Yesterday I went to Schofield Barracks the Military base! 1st me my Cub Scout Den got to shoot a non-loaded 50cal. Browning Deployable, a saw or Swat, Armed, Weapon, I think thatʻs the abbreviation, and we got to hold M16 A4. 2nd we went to PT or Physical Training. 3rd we took pictures with the Military helmet and vest that the soldiers wear, THEY WERE HEAVY! 4th we talked to a guy on the radio and we had to make a code name. My code name was SPAM. 5th we learned how to take care of a injured person and learned how to clime a rope. 6th we did the obstacle coarse. We went around things, went over things, we did crawling races while holding M16 A4s, and we hid from a Sniper. IT WAS FUN!

One of are family traditions is to read Luke chapter 2 on Christmas eve as a family. It helps us to remember the true meaning of Christmas, which is to celebrate the birth and the life of Jesus Christ.

We spent Christmas at my cousin’s house. The first thing that we did was eat and play then we waited for Santa he then we heard a thump we looked outside and we saw Santa’s bag. Then me and my cousins opened the bag there where toys for my cousins and me. I liked the Dsi that I got from Santa. My cousins Asheley, Kelsie, Jasmine, Chloe, Nadine, Joey, Simmy and my dog tiger them poped fire works. Right at midnight we pop the BOMB. My cousin Simmy brought a bomb and lit it then it spun like a UFO.

  15. Storm Says:

For my familly tradition we eat soba at midnight on new years eve. On new years my grandma makes mochi soup yocon and black beans for breakfast. I don`t care for the black bean yocon I prefer the white bean one. My favorite thing that we do on new years is go to my aunty Ethel`s house I love the yummy food that every one brings. My special reason is that the soba is for long life(your not suppose to bite the noodles until its all in your mouth becase if you do your life will be shorter) the black bean is for strength and the yocon is just extra.
