Last week we were fortunate enough to have Inspector Akaka, Inspector Gipaya and Aunty Lani provide us with a wonderful fire safety presentation. What did you learn that you think is important to remember? What is going on in the picture to the right? Why did we practice this?

I learned that you should go down on your knees and crawl if you are trying to get out of a burning house. We should also have a family escape plan. We practiced it because, if there is a real fire, we wouldn’t know what to do. We also learned that if your smoke alarm makes fast warning beeps, there is a fire but if it makes slow beeps, it is low on batteries. I liked when we got to crawl in the smoke tunnel. We got to crawl under smoke and that was my favorite part. The fire presentation taught me a lot about fire safety .

I learned that you always got to have a plan and so for example my place to meet at when there is a fire is at our next door neigbor Mr.Ching and if you had a fire inside your house you would have to have a plan on where you are going because write when you have a fire you have to go to a safe spot when the fire comes and you have to know that because this thing that I learned is very inportant to me and you

I thought that the tunnel was sooooo AWSOME!I aqlso learned that you should always, always test your smoke detector at least once a month. The smoke tunnel had like a airy ,windy smell. It felt like i was actually in a fire.I appreciated the goodies ‘Puwai’s grandma passed out for us and I really, really am thankful for the whole fire saftey presentation thing and the smoke tunnel. So remember:Don’t hide go outside, fall and crawl,Always test Semor the smoke detector and you always have to have at least two ways out and a meeting or a safe place to go.

“don’t hide go outside”. The movie was fun and sooooo interesting! Little Richie was too funny!!!! I learned that we should always practice firesafety at school and at home. We also need to have a fire plan at home so we know where to go out of the house in case there is a fire. We have a fire plan in school. If there was a real fire we would all go to island car pick up. Also don’t forget to change the batteries to your fire alarm when it makes slow beeps. Fire alarms can save your life! I really enjoyed crawing through the smoke, it was almost like a real fire, but it’s good thing that it wasn’t for real! If it was for real, thanks to Uncle Godfrey and Aunty Shannon I think I will know just what to do!…. Stop drop and roll when you’re on fire… crawl and stay low when there is smoke so you won’t get all chocked up!.. Thank you grandma for inviting aunty and uncle to teach us about fire safety.
