When we read Fox by Margaret Wild we had a lot of interesting responses to the story. Some of the big ideas we identified are GREED, ENVY, LOYALTY, FEAR, TRUST, and RESPECT. What is your response to this powerful story?

This story is about a dog,a bird,and a fox.I think the message is greed and privlages.I think Magpie had a privlage of being taken care of but gave it up because of his greed.

Fox is about a dog and a bird who come together and are really good friends. Then a stubborn little fox who is greedy comes along and separates the 2. I think the author’s message is to deal with life the right way and don’t try to ruin other people’s lives.

This book is like when I sneak out
side of my house to play with
my cousin.I think this book is about helping because the dog help
the brid and the brid help the
dog.And I think this book is
about careing because the dog
and the brid cared for
each uther.

It tells me that Fox will be envious about Magpie and Dog. Magpie will trust Fox so Magpie can fly. Fox will care for himself. Fox and Magpie wanted to fly like a bird.
Magpie will trick Dog so to help Fox.

I almos cried in this book cause it was almos sad in the middl of this book.
I think this book was about trust cause the animals where trusting them in this story Fox.

This story is about a bird a dog and a fox. Bird had a burnt wing then dog came along. Dog saw birds burnt wing dog cared for bird because dog had one blind eye. Dog said hop on my back I will run fast.
I think it was sad because fox left bird alone so bird had to hop back.
It reminds me of the Ginger Bread Man because the Fox said hop on my back.

I thought fox was a good story.The story was about a fox who wanted to split Dog and Magpie apart.Dog is a 1 eyed dog and Magpie bent a wing and could not fly so Dog helped Magpie.Magpie did not know that Dog and Fox were friends.I think that the authors message was:Trust,Greed,Bravery.I think that because Magpie trusted Fox and had bravery to go with Fox.Also Fox was very greedy.

Trust
dog trusted brid becasus he new that brid won’t leve dog but he did.
bird was scared and he was brave so brid he could find his way home.

I think Fox,Magpie,and Dog were the only animals in the forest so thats why fox was so greedy to have a friend.I think the important word is help because magpie has a burnt wing and dog has a blind eye.Magpie was dogs blind eye and dog was magpies burnt wing.

I think the bird liked the dog but the fox had no frinds. So the fox was greedy so fox split them apart from each other. and showed them what it would feel like by your self.

I think that greed in the story was when Fox was jealas and greedy because dog and Magpie were happy that they were freinds and Fox dident have any freinds so he was jelas that he dident have a freind so he wanted to split Magpie apart when dog was sleaping so Fox toke him faraway from dog and Magpie had a hard time coming back because Magpie had a broken wing. So they were split apart. And I was so sad like I could not even think about it.

This story is about caring for other people because in the the bigining I heard that dog saw something and it was a bird with a burnt wing than they ask each other what there was then they had a deal that Dog will be Magpies burnt wing and Magpie going to be Dogs one eye and during the story I was going to cry a little bit.
KEY WORD
I think the key word is trust because Magpie trust fox to go with him instid of waiteing for dog and because I cryed I cryed because fox was like there firendship.

When dog’s friend magpie got a burnt wing,dog helped her fly.One day fox came.Magpie was afraid of fox but dog wasn’t afraid of fox so they had different feelings.One time,fox told magpie how fast he can run than dog.So one day magpie went with fox so she stayed with him but moments later,she thought about dog so she went back to dog.I think I will take care of magpie by holding her and running to make her fly.I would not trust fox if I were magpie because fox is so greedy.

I allmost cired because at the end,Fox put Magpie on his back and sepratd Magpie and Dog. I think the heart of the story is for Fox to sepratd Magpie and Dog. Because he was lonly.

This story is about a bird a dog and a fox. In the woods lived a dog and a bird named Magpie they where good frends Dog made Magpie fly because her wing was bernt. A fox was lokeing at them and fox keept asing Magpie to come with him because he was playing a trick on Magpie. Then she made her decision she got on foxis back and ran of to the desert and left her there. She skipt along to Dogs den.

I think trust is like magpie and dog because magpie hat to trust dog to be a good friend an not like fox because wen fox was running through the woods far away from dog he stop and left her alone an then she thought about dog an she went back to dog.

In the book of Fox, Dog found a bird named magpy and magpy had a burned wing and Dog had his eye hurt so he said to bird Ill be your missing wing and yoll be my missing eye and so they flow throw the forest and then they met fox and he said he
was lonely and magpy dident trust him but dog did trust him so they brought him to camp and they separated Magpy and dog because dog went to go to drink water and then fox said come with me then magpy did so they relized that he was way far from home he was In the desert and fox shaked him off of his sholder and left him there. one time I was in oid navy and I got lost and The maniger said who’s boy is that and my mom said it is my boy and I found my mom.
I infer that is going to happen in Fox.

I think that this story is about Trust and Greed because when fox said “come with me and you will fly again”.Magpie didn’t trust him but still went with him.After Magpie went with fox,he was greedy because he wanted to fly.When Magpie was far from dog,fox just left Magpie on the other side of the desert because he wanted to separate dog from Magpie.

Fox
Fox is a book about two animals helping each other and there was a sly fox that was wanting to seperate them. The fox tricked the bird because the bird wanted to fly but the sly fox said come with me I can help you fly. The bird did not now he was going to trick him. After bird went with the sly fox and helpt him fly he was seperated from his friend.

This book is about a bird and he got a burnt wing. Dog was trying to be a good friend.But Fox didn’t have any friends so he broke dog and Magpie apart trying to encourage Magpie to go with him but she thought about dog and never went but again fox asked and Magpie relized that dog couldn’t run fast enough so it feels like Magpie’s flying so the third time fox asked magpie went. Fox took him out to the dessert and left him there. That was mean of fox. I think the keywords are greed and trust. I think trust Because Magpie trusted fox. I think greed because because fox was greedy for his own need. This story made me cry.Magpie was
a good Friend when he said no to fox. I started crying when fox took him out to the dessert.

I almost cired because it was sad in this book. It was sad in this book because Fox seperatd Magpie and Dog. And that’s why I almost cired.

I thot that was a good story.
