In his Education speech today Barack Obama asked you, “What’s your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make?” If you could answer him in person, what would you say? What other thoughts do you have about his speech?

I plan to go as high as I can in education and get straight A’s and become an Engineer when I grow up and invent robots that help us save energy.

  2. Evan Says:

I agree with President Obama that education is important for everyone. Kids get information from learning at school.
When I grow up, I would like to be a school bus driver. Being a bus driver is important because I am getting the kids to school because school is important.

  3. Dylan Says:

I think what Barack Obama said was really important. Like make goals for the year and try to reach them.

  4. Quinn Says:

This is Quinn. I think that President Obama’s speech is important to children because it teaches kids to do good work and become industrious, hard working men and women. We as students should also make goals for ourselves so that we have ways to improve during the year.

  5. koalii Says:

  6. Bailey Says:

Barack Obama said if you get a bad grade it does not mean you are stupid. Wash your hands. You need a good education if you want to be whatever you want.

  7. Bailey Says:

    I like your answer, Koalii.

  8. Caitlin Says:

My contribution will be that I will become a vetenarian and help animals with cuts and injuries. I will help animals stay healthy.
I learned from Barack Obama’s speech that I will always learn new things and keep trying my best.

  9. Noelani Says:

He said that it is okay to make mistakes like if you learn a new song and you make a mistake it’s ok because I once made lots of mistakes on my first day of choir practice.

  10. Camille Says:

Koali’i,I agree. I like to move on with my life and FORGET about things. I mean FORGET. Well, I usally like to hang on to the inportant stuff. Agree?

  11. Hunter Says:

Barack Obama said to work hard and to solve our biggest problems, like don’talk when someone is talking.

  12. Charlize Says:

My goal is I will do my best at spelling and think first because I want to get better at it.

  13. keenyn Says:

He said wash your hands before you get the swine flu. And don’t be afraid to ask questions. The most important thing he said was don’t just play your X Box and watch TV but just study.

  14. kalani Says:

I am thinking that Barack Obama really wants us to be excited about school because he talked about how if we study really hard we can be the next person to discover a vacine to cure people from the flu.

  15. Mrs. Sumida Says:

Aloha Students in Mrs. Nakamoto’s Class (and Quinn! Glad you are participating on our blog!) What really got me about President Obama’s speech was his mana`o on this statement, “What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country.”

As a teacher, I never thought of myself doing something for my country. But when I really think about it, it’s true, educating young children does impact our country’s future.

So think about the good things you’ll do for Hawaii and our country by reaching your goals!

  16. Pu'uwai Says:

My contribution is I would become a pre school teacher at a homeless shelter so the little children can learn how to read and write. The problem solved was making sure that no child would be left behind. I will discover that I can make these children happy and thankful to know that somebody cares about their education. If I could ask President Obama a question it would be, how do you plan to make sure that the homeless children in America are educated?

  17. Tara Says:

Just like Caitlin I want to be a veterinarian because I love animals. Like president Obama told us, our failures will teach us how to suceed.

  18. Esther Says:

I ager with you to Dylan.

  19. Mrs. Naum Says:

I am Esther’s mom. It was a very powerful speech to the children of America. My prayer is that every child will try to do better and give their best at all times without giving up. Being a success is learning from failure.

  20. keenyn Says:

    I agree with kalani
