How fast can YOU put on a fire safety suit?
May 11th, 2009 by tinakamo
Today we were fortunate to have Captain Melim (aka Hokupa’a’s dad) come to talk to us about fire safety. What new information did you learn? How will what you learned keep you safe if you are ever in a situation with fire or smoke? Do you have any additional questions?

Looking at the title of this post, it looks like Hokupaa’s dad demonstrated how firefighters put on their fire saftey suit.

Hey Nadia,
Guess who tried on the fire fighter suit.
Mrs. Nakamoto did!!!
We learned about things like how fast fire fighters need to put on their clothes… they have one minute!
The fire alarm might ring when the fire fighters are really hungry and they are just about to eat and maybe when they are in the middle of using the bathroom!
check out hello to our freinds in Oregen…their teacher posted a comment.
I’ll talk to you more on the post about the erban garden.
Bye
P.S.
Tomorrow is the walking and jogging feild trip, the golden pencils book sale and another Gmade.
Whew,
Hectic day coming up tomerrow huh?

My dad is a firefighter like Hokupa’as dad.I didn’t learn that much today because my dad is a firefighter.Hey hoku have you been in the fire truck before? And Mrs.Nakamoto, you really looked like a real firefighter when you put on the firefighter clothes.I wonder how heavy the clothes are?And in brush fires they don’t wear there air tank.

May 11th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
I want to know if a fire can destory a hole block of house?
Did people die from a fire from your team?
May 11th, 2009 at 7:33 pm
The new information I learned was that the coat is two layers of clothing. It must be really hot on the fire. And even in those clothes. But it protects them from the fire. Mrs.Nakamoto how hot was it in the fire suit? I bet it was really heavy. And I wonder how heavy the tank was. My uncle, my daddys brother is a fire fighter and he has to do homework to.
May 11th, 2009 at 8:06 pm
I learned that sometimes you have to yell when you have a firefighter’s mask on and when you that bell ringing sound that means that you have no more air in the tank. And I also learned that the fire suit has two layers of protection just like Naiya said.
Oh and Nadia hope you feel better very soon

Hey Hoku could you tell your dad that one day he could get the gold badge all thou I think he should all ready have the gold badge. ;):)Oh yea is there only one box guy in the island you know the people that pick up the phone when theres an emergency? And when you run with all the tanks and coats how fast can you run. Thank you Uncle Matt for teaching me a lot of new stuff I appreciate all the time you spent to teach us and what you taught me was alot. Nadia what kind of sickness do you have and i’m sorry you couldnt go on the walking and jogging field trip. 🙁
May 13th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
Yeh Hoku I think your dad should have a gold badge but can he get one and then show us all.
May 14th, 2009 at 9:08 am
Um Jacob,
When you have a gold badge your a chief. The chief also does NOT put out fires. The chief is only at the biggest and most dangerous fires. So I don’t think that my dad should be a chief if he is gonna stay in an office or always gonna be at meetings.
P.S
My dads already been through the meeting thingees
May 14th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Hoku,
I bet you that there won’t be THAT much big fires if he’s a chief! 😉

May 28th, 2009 at 9:18 am
Me too, Naiya, the new information that I learned is that the coat is two layers!! That must feel hot and heavy especially with the air tank and everything else they have to carry in a house fire or any other kind of fire!:) 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
May 29th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
Um stacy,

June 6th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
