Zoom Backgrounds
The students of Fall 2020 found themselves in class via Zoom. Since students were working in distance learning they created Zoom virtual backgrounds based on their personal interests and things they valued. Though you may see many backgrounds which appear to show simple interests, students were asked to select images that symbolize deeper meanings than what is displayed. For example, students who decided to share imagery centered around sports, passionately have these interests embedded into their lives. They have a much deeper connection to who they are versus just what they like.
The purpose of this project was to practice searching for proper images that are of a particular format, .PNG to be applied over a .JPEG background. Using filters in Google and checking for themselves, students were asked to seek out only high resolution images. Images should be layered efficiently where subject images (PNGs) blend well with background images (JPEGs). Furthermore, students practiced using the basic layout tools in Adobe Illustrator: selection tools, resizing, clipping masks, color palettes, text/type tools.
