Logo Project Basics Tutorial

This video discusses some of the basic tools in Adobe Illustrator that may be used to create your own logos.  Creating logos deals more with creating shapes and content from scratch in the Adobe software.

 

 

In this video:

I talk first about “placing your sketch” this just means anything you want to trace.  It might be a sketch you drew yourself or it could be an image you get from the Internet like how the video shows.

1. 0:36 – Adjust opacity and lock layer before you trace

2. 1:08 – Fill and stroke colors for shapes

3. 3:00 – Flatten transparency and expanding (convert lines to shapes)

4. 5:12 – Identify basic shapes to trace (connect later with pathfinder tools)

5. 8:46 – Pen Tool Basics (tracing shapes precisely)

6. 11:59 – Wire view is what the computer sees (cmd+Y)

7. 12:52 – Pathfinder Tools (cut or combine shapes)
