The following 2 stations are where you will sit during class. These areas need to be maintained regularly as this is where visitors to SPC can request supplies. Please read the information for each station thoroughly as it will become common practice for you EVERYDAY in class.

Window Supply

The main purpose of working in the Window Supply area is to help check out supplies and make sure they get returned properly. Here are all the kuleana of working in the Window Supply area:

1. What is the check out process?
– Visitors fill out the top portion of the SUPPLY REQUEST forms.
– YOU fill out the bottom portion (read the instructions on form).
– Remember that students need a CURRENT KS ID in order to check out supplies. If they don’t have one, they cannot check out supplies.

– PROPERLY CHECK that ALL supplies are returned before you give back someone’s ID.

2. Restock and maintain supplies
– Glue stick, stick glue, tape, spray glue, staples, etc. are found in the back storage area.
– Sharpen colored pencils.
– Clean dirty scissors and paint brushes.
– Sharpen / replace xacto blades.

3. ALL students must SCAN-IN
– If you see students enter SPC who have not used the scanner, stop them and ensure they do.
– Help them use the scanner if necessary
– Remember, we will hold people accountable who touch the scanner!

4. Special things to know about the Window.
– GLUE GUNS returned hot, should not be hung up until they cool down.
– X-ACTO knives should not be checked out with the plastic holders.
– Numbered BOXES need to be given out with ALL supplies.
– There are SPECIAL SCISSORS for PLASTER WRAP. Don’t give out the hanging scissors.
– PAINT TRAYS AND BRUSHES need to be returned and not left on the drying rack by the sink.

Table Supply

The main points of working in the Table Supply area is to help check out paper/poster, bind books, and help laminate. Here are all the kuleana of working in the Paper Supply area:

1. What is the check out process?
– POSTER BOARD is not checked out unless approved by a KUMU first.
– POSTER BOARD is NEVER for cutting out letters or small shapes.
– Other paper supplies can be given out (within reason). Check REUSABLE paper supplies first.
– Give out ONLY regular paper or construction paper, NOT CARDSTOCK.
– CARDSTOCK is only given if a thicker paper is required (i.e. to make cards…)
– Do not give out BOOK BINDING covers, they are saved only for BOOK BINDING.

2. Book Binding
– Make sure the machine is set to the “letter” paper size setting.
– NO MORE than 5-7 sheets of regular paper at a time. (3-5 for cardstock)
– Slide the paper from the SIDE of the machine to prevent crooked papers.
– Be EXTRA CAREFUL when binding hand drawn sheets. (these are not easily replaced if you make a mistake)

3. Lamination
– Make sure the GREEN READY LIGHT is on. If not, wait 10 minutes until it is.
– Lamination is for protection, not to make something pretty.
– Laminate as many projects as once as you can to prevent WASTING lamination supply.

4. Where do I get more paper supplies?
– Check paper beneath the counter first.
– All other paper and poster board are in the storage room in the back.
– Clear PVC covers for book binding are in the top right cabinet.
