Huaka`i to Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park

Our huaka`i to the Volcano today was a success.  We could not have done it without our WONDERFUL parent chaperones, MAHALO NUI, you folks are GREAT!!!  The keiki were able to share their ho`okupu of oli and a Pū`olo at Kilauea, listened to Aunty Charone (Manuʻs mom) and Uncle Kūpono (Kameleʻs dad) talk about the special wahi we were at and endangered plants.  Our walk through the Thurston Lava tube was done with Aunty Cierra (Kameleʻs mom) as she shared the pilina between plants, animals and the park.  One of the highlights of the trip was creating movement at the Jagaar Museum and watching the Richter Scale measure the impact our jumps made (we have the data that was created posted in our classroom).  Hereʻs a class picture after snack and below, a short video on the jumping at the museum.  Enjoy!!!!
