One of the many conversations at The KS UNconference was to start a twitter chat for educators in Hawai’i. The purpose of the chat is to connect, share, and learn from one another. Sound simple? Yes and no. I think it was @fenwayfan808 who asked, “Who’s going to come to our chat?”. We realized that while there are a lot of educators in Hawai’i on twitter, there are also many who are not. So while #HIchat is a go, we’re also going to start slow (did you see how that rhymed?).
Step 1 – start using #HIchat in our tweets
Step 2 – Gather a list of Hawai’i Educators on Twitter (Add your name here if you’re an Educator in Hawai’i!)
Step 3 – Share with our colleagues the value of social learning through twitter and other social media. This could be at a faculty gathering where we share an educational hashtag stream. @fenwayfan808 had a term for this, but it slipped my mind…
Step 4 – When the time is right, schedule a #HIchat
Hawai’i is a special place and there are so many wonderful things happening in and out of our classrooms across the state. Let’s connect, share, and learn from one another!
Kudos to the #HIchat tweeps that started the conversation:

#HIchat = go + slow
Love it..
Can’t remember the term I used either – but lets make our conversations, questions, concerns via #HIchat visible, authentic and collaborative with the greater community
