Use Thinglink to Share Student Work

If youʻre looking for a new & easy way to showcase some of the awesome work your students are doing, check out the new 360 degree photo editor in the Thinglink App.  This year, all three divisions have access to the paid application. All you need to do is follow these instructions to sign-up for your KS ThingLink account. It links to your KS Google account, so thereʻs no need to remember information for another account. Once your teacher account is set up, share the invite code with your students & they can develop their own creations.

Hereʻs an example of how Kumu Kapulani used the app to showcase a “museum display” activity she did with her students.  The entire 360 degree photo was captured using the Google Street View app (very easy to use), then imported into Thinglink. Next close-up shots of the artifacts, along with detailed explanations were added using tags.

Global Competence

The idea of Global Competence in the educational setting focuses on allowing students to learn about what goes on in the world outside of school and their role in understanding and eventually contributing to the rapidly evolving society they are a part of.  It is a shift in current educational practice that will give students the opportunity to succeed in the global economy through a more creative and visionary educational response to the world we live in now. Globally competent students should have the following skills:

  • Investigate the world – being curious about and interested in learning how the world works.
  • Weigh perspectives – recognize that others may not share their perspective, and they should be able to integrate their view points as well as those of others to construct a new one, when needed.
  • Communicate ideas – they are able to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Take action – be able to envision and weigh options and take action based on evidence and insight to impact and make a difference in the world.
