Ohana Alert for Feb. 3-7

Aloha Friday!

Yikes! It is already February…I clearly remember August when the FISH! first swam into class on the first day of school and now weʻve been together 6 glorious months! Check out the blog header…photo was taken just outside our pod with the slopes of Mauna Kea covered in winter white…SNOW…brrr! We border the crater of the active volcano Kilauea and get a view of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa blanketed with snow too!  We are so lucky!  Happy Superbowl Sunday!

Hereʻs the happenings for the first week of February…get your calendars out!

**Student Led Conference assigned dates and times will be sent home on Monday in planners.  Be on the lookout for it!  Mahalo for your continued support as we continue to have student enrichment days during this time.  Conferences will be held on Thurs. & Fri., Feb. 27 & 28.   

Mon., Feb. 3-Day 5: Last day to practice/memorize your Hilo Legend for our speech festival. The preliminaries begin tomorrow. Ask your keiki to share their presentation with you! 🙂 Continue to study for Science final on Wednesday-use your study guide Mrs. Chang shared.

Tues., Feb. 4-Day 6: PRELIMINARY ROUND FOR SPEECH FESTIVAL BEGIN…All Students will be presenting their Hilo Legend to the class. Only the top 5 will move on to the next round. Hāweo luncheon for the month of January-Congrats to Candace and Logan!
Wed., Feb. 5-Day 1: Science Final today! Early Release Day today-students get out at 1:30pm. Please make arrangements with your student before coming to school.
Thurs., Feb. 6-Day 2: Nā Koa Reward Day #6. (As usual…reward announcement will come the day before)
Fri., Feb. 7-Day 3: The Kamehameha Varsity Baseball team playing in tournament on Kauaʻi. I will be going to cheer Austin and the rest of the team on! A sub will be in class.

**HEADS UP FOR NEXT WEEK:  Ekalesia on Monday, Feb. 10-Get those dress whites ready!  Reading goal of 9 genres due on Tues., Feb. 11th!
