Ohana Alert for the Week of Nov. 7-11

Sending our A-L-O-H-A to you!

Alo00000-ha!

Here’s another week at a glance for our 5B ohana.

**Attention Parents:  We would like to ask your kōkua with donating leis for our guest speakers on Wed., Nov. 9th.  If you are able to help us, please let me know asap.

Monday, Nov. 7: Day 5-FISH! Philosophers are continuing their skypeing adventure with friends in Baltimore, Maryland today. Ask students to share what they did.  Students will be bringing home a hard copy Student-Let Conference Sign up sheet for parents.  You can’t miss it, printed it on bright orange!  Please label with 1st, 2nd, & 3rd choice. I have also included extra afternoon times in order to accommodate ohana & offer some flexibility.  Times will be assigned on a 1st come 1st served basis. I have also posted a copy of schedule on our blog, if you already know what times work for you, please feel free to comment there if easier.  That’s a surefire way to get it done and hopefully get your 1st choice even before Monday rolls around.  I will send home a confirmation date and time once I have all haumāna scheduled.  🙂

Tuesday, Nov. 8-Day 6- Randon is Keiki Alaka’i– Hāweo Luncheon.  Congrats to our own Kyden and Ashley!  Great job of showing the ho’okipa spirit!  Jaren will be my Photographer for this special event since I am unable to attend.  Thanks Jaren! Upper Elem. teachers have a training to attend with Stephanie Harvey who is a nationally reknowned reading teacher and author.

Wednesday, Nov. 9- Day 1- Kamaile is Keiki Alaka’i – Aunty Gerri Johansen will be in our classroom to share her mana’o on “Platation Days.”  She is in the process of telling her mo’olelo in preparation of writing a book on the same topic.  She is a 1960 Kapālama graduate and look forward to learning a lot.  If you are able to donate a lei for Aunty Gerri, please contact me.  Mahalo for your help!

Thursday, Nov. 10- Day 2- Jaren- Keiki Alaka’i– Guidance with Mr. Kudo.  It is also Nā Koa Reward Day!  If you exemplified ho’okipa in all your classes, at recess, at lunch, or at the bus stop, this is your time to celebrate!  Great job for the students of 5B who worked hard to Choose Your Attitude!

Friday, Nov. 11- NO SCHOOL- Veteran’s Day.  Go out and MAHALO a veteran!  These soldiers, past and present, ensure the freedom that we enjoy at great sacrifice to themselves and their family.  There show Kahiau all the time.  A thank you goes a long way!
