Morning Meeting W/KB – Living Active & Healthy Lives!

Our Papa Mala’o (Kindergarten Class) in Mrs. Nihipali’s class is learning about living active and staying healthy through exercise and the food that we eat. This morning we talked about the many ways we can live active and be healthy.  Our students agreed that eating fruits, veggies and drinking plenty of water will keep you healthy.  Others shared playing sports like baseball, soccer, and even karate will keep you active.  Today, we participated in a Zumba Fitness Workout!  We took our fitness a bit further and did Zumba Toning! The students recycled their juice bottles, filled them with sand to create their own toning sticks. Yes, we worked our muscles and had a fun cardio workout! Mahalo Ms. Lee for joining us!

I Had A Wonderful Fall Break! Did You?

I had the most beautiful Fall Break Ever! Family, Shopping, Exercise, Relaxing just to name a few.  My family and I were blessed by my uncle  (Mama’s brother) who let us stay in his time-share in Waikiki.  We were double blessed as we spent the week with our daughters who are college students at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa.  As you can tell, all four of our children had fun together sharing sibling moments in front of the camera taking silly, funny, cute pictures.  Love Is…. Spending time together as an ‘Ohana!  Share with me what you did during the Fall Break?

Giving a Compliment Goes a Long Way.

How do you feel when you are greeted?  Just ask Mrs. Nihipali’s class!  This morning I was blessed to be among special friends who greeted each other with “I like you because……”  Everyone paired up and we shared why we liked our partner using colorful words & eye contact.  Isabelle shared “I felt special because Ms. Aiona’s tone of voice made me feel Happy!” As for me, I felt extra special because Mrs. Nihipali told me she liked my earrings.  Mahalo nui e nā haumāna &  Mrs. Nihipali for adding a sprinkle of JOY to my morning! I so giving and receiving compliments.

Konichiwa! Bonjour! Aloha! – Greetings from around the World

Today Ms. Manliguis class shared in a special greeting activity in the library.  We all greeted each other with “Konichiwa” - Good Day in the Japanese language.  It was extra special as each person was recognized by name, eye contact and with a bow which signifies honor. Greeting people everyday brings Joy to my life and I love being greeted too.  So, the next time we see each other, let’s be creative in our greetings and use a language from around the world like: Kalimera (Greek), Talofa (Samoan) Ia orana (Tahitian), and Bom dia (Portuguese).  Meet & Greet!

Welcome Back To School! Had a great Summer?

Aloha e nā Haumāna!

I hope you had a wonderful, fun, and restful summer.  I sure did! This summer my family and I spend three weeks on the mainland.  We traveled to Virginia (Alexandria & Lynchburg), Florida and California. While in Alexandria, we visited Key Elementary School.  My aunt taught a summer writing program called “Handwriting Without Tears.”  The children engaged in some fun hand and finger activities to strengthen their pencil grip when writing.   And Yes, we did spend some time with Mickey, Minnie and all their friends @ Disneyland.  It was Fabulous! I am energized, refreshed, and ready for another Amazing school year!  Can’t wait to hear what you did this summer!
