Weekend activities (April 18 and 19): Spring Social and Sunday Fun

It was a busy weekend for the gentlemen of Nae’ole Hale. Saturday marked the beginning of breakfast in the dorm — instead of bussing up to Akahi, the boys ate rice, eggs, and sausage in the hale dining room while some enjoyed sleeping in a few more hours. After a 9:30 a.m. dorm meeting, routine study hall and room cleaning, Spring Social kicked off during the afternoon hours. The event — coordinated by Kaha’opulani Dorm Advisor Lindy Maluo — was a success, with teachers, day students, boarders, and families alike taking in a fun-filled day on the Inter-Field. Ms. Maluo planned a series of fun games including volleyball, kickball, and relay races. There was also a slip-in-slide that provided a respite from the heat and seemingly endless hours of fun. Ample food was on hand … no one left hungry! The grill provided hotdogs, hamburgers and even steak! By the time the evening rolled around, everyone was wiped out. Needless to say, the hale was quieter than normal for a Saturday night. A huge “mahalo” to Ms. Maluo for her efforts!

Sunday brought with it chapel, brunch, and runs to Kamehameha Shopping Center. About 16 boys took advantage of the outing and stocked up on food, groceries, and other supplies. In the afternoon, about 12 boys played basketball at Keawe and “Ala Gym” opened for business about 4 p.m. It was nice to have some down time, and the perfect way to wind down after a busy weekend!
