2015: Back in action!

The gentlemen of Nae’ole Hale returned to their home away from home on Monday, Jan. 5 and enjoyed reconnecting with one another throughout the afternoon and evening. The time off was a much needed break for the boys but they were excited to be back on O’ahu for the new year.

While the boys were away, Nae’ole Hale was bustling with action as the Ala, Bross, Kekua, and Quinabo ohanas enjoyed the holiday season here. Mr. Bross, who is a staff member with the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team, participated in a trio of games during the Diamond Head Classic, from Dec. 22 to Dec. 25. The Rainbow Warriors played the University of Nebraska on the first night of action, winning 66-58. Perhaps the highlight of the evening was Mr. Quinabo, however, as he was recognized as an honorary coach before the game. “The honorary coach” initiative is a new program implemented by the University of Hawaii. The men’s basketball team recognizes an educator, police officer, or member of the military before each game as an “honorary coach” for exemplary work in their field. In addition to the position Mr. Quinabo holds as a dorm advisor here at Nae’ole Hale, he has taught high school science at Anuenue High School for the last five years. Mr. Kekua and Mr. Vincent were also on hand to support Mr. Quinabo and cheer on the ‘Bows:

… With the fun of the holiday season behind us, we are ready to dig in to 2015 and have a great year! Welcome back to Nae’ole Hale, boys!
