About Shara
Itʻs amazing to be back at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama in a position of where Iʻm reminded, “I wish I had someone like me” during my post-high journey. I was blessed to have graduated as a 13-year lifer, so Iʻve been there — walked the same halls, gone up and down Kekuhaupiʻo stairs, participated in our significant KS traditional events — and remain forever indebted to her.
I took my culture and academic drive to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. I struggled during my first year of feeling homesick, cultural differences, and I changed my intended major. But after getting involved with the multicultural affairs office and residence life, I found my calling being a leader in various departments and offices across Creighton’s campus. This opened doors for me and I’m truly grateful for my opportunities for growth.
Upon earning my Bachelor of Arts in History from Creighton University, I returned to my hometown to join the team at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum. Subsequently, I accepted a Residence Life Assistantship at Creighton University to support my pursuit of a master’s degree. After graduating, I relocated to Hilo, Hawai’i, where I became the Director of First Year Experience providing support to first-year and transfer students at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo. Although this role was highly rewarding, I determined it was time to advance my academic journey by pursuing and completing my Doctor of Education degree at Creighton University.
