About Derrick

With over 35 years working in the world of college counseling, it is working with haumāna and their ʻohana that I enjoy most. I grew up in the Hilo and attended Seattle University. I had the opportunity to study abroad in Austria which led to my interest in travel, culture, and visiting historical sites. Upon graduation, I worked for my alma mater for 16 years in admissions supporting students from Hawaiʻi, the Pacific Islands, Asia, Europe, and parts of the continent. I also worked in residential life, new student orientation, and advised the Hawaiian, Marianas, and Samoan student organizations. I returned to Hawaiʻi working in counseling and college counseling for the last 20 years at ʻIolani and Mid-Pacific. I enjoy traveling, trying new foods, and cooking.
