About Keʻalohi

With over 10 years of experience in academic support, advising, counseling, and career programming, I’m passionate about helping students navigate and thrive in higher education. My approach is shaped by my educational training in social work and focuses on meeting students where they are—supporting them in making confident, informed decisions.

I started my own journey at a Windward Community College before transferring to the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, a path that helped me overcome financial barriers and stay grounded in Hawaiʻi and our culture. Along the way, I built meaningful relationships with peers, staff, and faculty who played a big role in my educational journey. Today, I strive to be that same supportive presence for others and remain a lifelong learner committed to increasing access and uplifting our lāhui.

Educational Background:

  • BA in Psychology – University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa
  • Masters of Social Work – University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa

Region / Kuleana: UH 2-year and 4 year colleges (c/o 2022), UH Mānoa A-K (c/o 2023) UH Hilo, Maui College, West Oʻahu and Community Colleges (2023), BYU System, Utah, and Nevada.

Hometown: Kailua, Hawaiʻi

High School: Kailua High School

Favorite Food: My mom’s beef stew

Favorite Place in Hawaiʻi: My grandma’s house

Random Fact: I share the same birthday as Hermoine Granger!

Best tip for Postsecondary Success: One principle I live by is, “a year from now, you’ll be grateful you started today.” I encourage you to take action, no matter how small, to keep your goals in sight and bring you closer to what you want. Connect with peers, professors, and campus resources as these relationships will carry you through difficult times and open doors you didn’t expect. Remember, you are enough, and you belong in the spaces you’re in!
